Twitter Updater 3.0!

Someone else has probably done this as well, but I’ve updated Twitter Updater to take care of a few outstanding issues.  It now uses phpCurl and checks the zz.gd/tinyurl.com output for validity before putting it into your status update.

Twitter Updater

I’ve tested it with my 2.6.3 installation.  It should work on any WordPress 2.5 or better with phpCurl enabled.

DlinkStats for MRTG

Just a quick project I put together this evening to fix something I needed fixed. YMMV, but if you’re looking for the same fix and this works, good for you!

DlinkStats gets stats from your D-Link router for MRTG. Nothing more fancy than that!

Cable Modem Woes

Spent the morning watching my cable modem blink with ranging lights.   I went through all the usual debugging of unplugging the modem, waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in.  I reset my router several times.  No good.  Three lights, no internet.  Finally gave in and called Comcast customer service and once again learned why a number of my friends have switched over to Qwest DSL.  Stranglely enough, not 10 minutes after I scheduled a technician to come out and look at my modem, the service came back on by itself.  I’ve moved the modem from its usual perch in the top of a closet to where they can get at it easily tomorrow should I decide to let them come out and look at it anyway.  I think I’ll wait until the morning and see if it’s been up all night before I cancel the appointment.

At least it’s not putting a damper on my getting this blog up and running today!

I’m back?

It’s been some time since I’ve posted to a blog – well, pretty much since I had many issues with Blogger.com a few years ago.   It’s time I tried this again and see how it works out now that I’m hosting my own.  Wish me luck.
